A morning devotional app that gets you to Scripture first

Bible Verse Alarm is an iPhone alarm for Christians who want their first minute of the day to go to God's Word, not their phone. It isn't a library of written devotions. It's the part that gets you into Scripture before anything else, and you carry on from there.

What should a morning devotional app do?

It should help you meet God at the start of the day, in whatever form fits you. Most people need one of three things:

- Guided content, such as a short reading and reflection. - A way to begin at all, when the phone keeps winning. - A way to keep a verse with you through the day.

Bible Verse Alarm covers the second and third. For guided content, see our comparison of Christian apps for iPhone.

How does Bible Verse Alarm work?

It's an alarm that keeps ringing until you complete a short Bible verse. You choose the verses for each alarm, then turn it off by rebuilding the verse word by word or by typing it.

David wrote that he laid his requests before God at daybreak and then waited expectantly. The alarm gives you a small way to do the same: by the time it stops, you're awake and you've already read Scripture.

The Gospel of Mark says Jesus rose while it was still dark and went to a solitary place to pray. You don't need to match that. You can simply use the quiet that follows for prayer, a reading plan or a journal.

In the morning, O LORD, You hear my voice; at daybreak I lay my plea before You and wait in expectation.

Psalms 5:3

Early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up and went out to a solitary place to pray.

Mark 1:35

Why does the first minute matter?

What you open first is what you see first. If it's a feed, your quiet time has to compete with it.

The alarm makes Scripture the first thing on your screen, so the devotion starts before the distraction does. That's the idea behind "Scripture before the scroll".

Which Bible does it use?

English has four translations: NIV, WEB, KJV and BSB. Spanish uses Reina-Valera 1909, Chinese uses 和合本 and Korean uses 개역한글. The app follows your iPhone's language.

The text is stored on your phone, so it works offline, and there is no account or login. The Verses tab has scenes you unlock by waking up, and the Practice tab lets you rehearse verses whenever you like.

Is it the right app for you?

Best for people who already want a daily devotion but keep reaching for the phone first, and for heavy sleepers. Not the right fit if you want written devotions with commentary, a full Bible-reading or study app, an Android app (it's iPhone only), or a gentle one-tap alarm. You can pair it with a reading app such as YouVersion.

It's free to download, and full use needs a subscription. The current price is shown on the App Store in your country.

Frequently asked questions

Is Bible Verse Alarm a daily devotional?

Not a full one. It's an alarm that has you complete a short Bible verse before it stops, so your day begins with Scripture. Pair it with prayer or a reading plan.

Can it replace my devotional app?

No. It's an alarm, not a full Bible-reading or study app. It starts your day in Scripture, and you can continue in whatever devotional or reading plan you already use.

How do I turn the alarm off?

Complete a short Bible verse mission: rebuild the verse word by word, or type it. The alarm keeps ringing until you do.

Can I choose which verses I wake up to?

Yes. Each alarm has its own verses, which you pick in the alarm editor.

Which Bible translations are included?

NIV, WEB, KJV and BSB in English; Reina-Valera 1909 in Spanish; 和合本 in Chinese; 개역한글 in Korean. The app follows your iPhone's language.

Will it ring if my iPhone is on Silent?

Yes. It uses Apple's AlarmKit, so it rings through Silent and Focus modes.

Do I need an account or internet?

No account or login is needed. The Bible text is stored on your iPhone, so alarms and verses work offline.

Is there a version for Android?

Not yet. Bible Verse Alarm is iPhone only for now.

Is it free?

It's free to download, and full use needs a subscription. The current price is shown on the App Store in your country.
